Friendly software
for curious people.

Rookery Software makes free tools that turn intimidating things, like Linux, the command line and networking, into something anyone can pick up and enjoy. Every program in the rookery comes with plain words, real guides, and a penguin who's happy to help.

Our software

A rookery is a penguin colony. Ours is a small one, for now.

TuxBridge

Linux on Windows, made easy.

TuxBridge installs real Linux systems next to Windows for people who have never used Linux: Ubuntu, Mint, Arch, Omarchy and more, with full desktops in a window, Docker apps in one click, about 50 guides, hands-on lessons, a Kids mode, and Pip, the penguin who carries everything across the bridge.

Hatching

Something for networks

Virtual labs for learning how networks really work, built with the same plain-words approach. Pip has been seen carrying cables around. That's all we can say for now.

If a newcomer can't follow it, we haven't finished it. Every feature ships with a guide.

About Rookery

Rookery Software is a small, independent software studio. It started with a simple idea: Linux shouldn't need an afternoon of tutorials to try. TuxBridge was the first penguin in the rookery; more are on the way.

Our logo is a chess rook with Pip peeking out of its window, because a rookery is where penguins live, and Pip lives here.
